Life is Busy/Call to Beta-Readers/Nanowrimo

Sat Oct 31, 2009, 9:51 AM
HolycrapI'vebeensobusythesepastfewweeksIhaven'tevenbeenabletomakeajournalpostabouthowb usyI'vebeen.

SO. Would any of my kind watchers/friends like to help a fellow writer out with Beta-ing their story? :iconhula-crazy: is looking for someone (or someones) to help her out by reading her story and looking for any plotholes/offering critiques/the usual stuff. It's not online yet, so she'll send it to you via email if you're interested; just send her a note! :D

In other news, remember when I had, like, no job? Now I have two. One is a temp-to-hire position that I sure hopes turns to "hire" that'll be five days a week, 8-5, and the second is seasonal, on weekends and evenings. Needless to say, I'm probably going to be very tired and very absent from the internet for a little bit (plus I'm trying to knit two scarves by Christmas, so my hands are usually tied up...lol, sorta-punny). This would also explain why if you left me a comment in the last few weeks, and I still haven't responded back to it, it's because I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Apologies.

Speaking of being busy, some of my friends of Facebook have decided to do a writing game/activity in honor of NanoWriMo, and I still haven't started yet. Mostly because I was thinking of doing my own thing for Nanowrimo, but in reality I haven't written anything in weeks. It's very sad. I am bursting with creative juices (sounds gross) with no time to be...er...juiced? This is getting weird.

Finally, Happy Halloween! I've never been so happy to just stay home and give out candy to trick-or-treaters. Five years of Halloween in Isla Vista will do that to you.

Read my short story!

Tue Sep 15, 2009, 10:19 AM
Remember how I told you I was going to have a short story published in an online magazine? Well, they finally put it out, and you can read it here, or check out the full table of contents here. It's short (well, duh) and has a kind of a different flavor than you're probably used to seeing from me. Let me know what you think!

Also, let us not forget about that whole "I'm doing commissions" thing.

$5 Commissions!

Mon Sep 14, 2009, 4:05 PM
Looks like my computer is still dead until I can take it to get it fixed and/or buy a special power cord for it (DAMN YOU, ACER AND YOUR RARE SHIT), but the job hunt is still going...less than swimmingly...so, in addition to the commissions I'm already doing, I'm also offering:

$5 lineless portraits, as seen here: [link] and here: [link] (except, you know, with just one person, not two)

If you're thinking about buying one, or another commission, all of my info is right here: [link]

Writing is hard. :/

Thu Aug 6, 2009, 1:26 AM
Yesterday marked a very important day for me. For the first time in my life, in all of the many, many stories I've written throughout my 23 years (maybe 13? When did I start writing...?) I have actually outlined my story, chapter by chapter. And I finished. Currently, I have everything of book one of the Anomalies plotted out, by chapter and not just random bulleted notes, all the way up to the end: Chapter 25. I'm sure this is a "Well, no shit, that's what you're supposed to do" for many, but for me, it is a joyous occasion. It means I have a concrete goal to strive towards, rather than: "Uh...I think this is probably halfway through where I need to be. Oh, balls...I need an ending that doesn't look like I pulled it out of my ass." Now, by no means is this outline set in stone, but for the most part, I'm feeling pretty good about it.

The fact that I only have 6 out of 25 chapters written is a whole different story...

Speaking of stories, one of my watchers, ~Amriah, is looking to spread the word of their first published book of poetry titled Intimate Journey: Battle Scars. Take a look here if you're interested.

LAST NOTE: By the by, I'm still taking commissions...

(OH, GOD--I'M BACK TO FUGLY JOURNALS AGAIN AND THERE'S A TILDE BY MY NAME. :ohnoes:)

If interested:
Please send me a note with the title "COMMISSION" and let me know what you're interested in getting! Picture references are a great, great help, but if you don't have any, a detailed description should work too. If anyone decides to take me up on this offer, I will love you forever and ever.

Pricing/Payment
Number of Characters: Prices are the same for 1-2 characters; each additional character after the first two is $3. So, for example, if you wanted The Whole Shebang with 4 characters, it would be $26 ($20 + $3 +$3).

In terms of payment, I strongly favor PayPal because it's quick and easy, but I can take checks within the US too. (My out of country buddies, we'll have to work something out if you're interested.)
